Changing the comments form

Had an interesting discussion last week about comment forms on blogs, and other "expected" website features.

By default most blog platforms, like Wordpress and Textpattern (the system I'm using) lead visitors to fill in their name, email and website before their comment. I've amended the default layout on this blog, to show the comments field first.

Surely when visitors reads a blog post and they want to comment - that should be the first form field they are presented with?

Does putting the comments box first remove a tiny psychological hurdle for visitors, who should be happier to add their details afterwards to ensure they don't lose the comment they have just spent time writing?

Would this lead to more comments... or do visitors just expect the name, email, url and message order?

The Visitors who are used to commenting on blogs might notice the order change. It could increase comment numbers slightly.
