You know what I'd like? Some naked broadband.

Just before you think the blog been taken over by spammers offering all sorts of interesting websites to visit and curious viruses to download, allow me to explain.

I use my internet connect a lot, it being quite important to a website designer, however I don't use my home telephone much, infact I barely use it at all.

In my last phone bill, the costs of the line-rental and additional services was well over double the cost of calls, and that's disregarding any promotions (free local calls etc).

Wouldn't it be nice to rent a phoneline, for a reduced rate, that only provided broadband?

Being a BT customer this isn't possible, although certain cable operators do offer this service.

That is why I would like some naked broadband, please.

    If I was just using it for personal surfing at home, I’ll be on that but my usage is way too high – it’d never cope with my normal radio/iPlayer streams and my (constant) browsing!
